Career:
  • 1973: Master Degree of University of Technology Delft, the Netherlands.
  • Joined MARIN in 1973 as Project Manager Offshore Department. After joining MARIN he was involved
    in model tests and computations for floating offshore structures especially with SBM and jetty design
    systems, semi-submersible based FPU and tanker based FPSO design systems in shallow and
    deepwater, DP, TLP in deepwater and dredging equipment exposed to wind, waves and current
  • 1976-1982:  Assistance in the Designs of the Dosbouw-Eastern Scheld (model tests and
    computations) and consultancy during the execution of the mega-work. Project manager of the load
    and strength computations of the design of the Ostrea, Mytilus en Cardium.        
  • 1988 PhD of University of Technology Delft entitled “A simulation model for a single point moored
    tanker”.
  • 1989-1998: Manager of the Seakeeping and Offshore Project Department of MARIN. Initiator of the
    new built Offshore and Seakeeping basin of MARIN
  • 1999-2007: Convener/chairman ISO TC 67/SC 7/WG9-ISO/19901 Petroleum and natural gas
    industries — Specific requirements for offshore structures — Part 6: Marine operations
  • 1998-2006: Vice-President of the Houston affiliation MARIN USA Inc. ,  Houston TX
  • 2006-present: President of WMooring Inc., Houston TX

Legal arbitration:
-In the period between 1990 up to now he is/was in involved in the following court legal arbitration cases:
  • The HIRI-Calm buoy, Hawaii  
  • The Calm buoy at Porto, Portugal·        
  • The Calm buoy located in the Sinki fairway, Singapore

Experience:
  • More than 30 years experience in computations and model testing with floating offshore structures
    especially with SBM and jetty design systems, semi-submersible based FPU and tanker based FPSO
    design systems in shallow and deepwater, DP, TLP in deepwater and dredging equipment exposed
    to wind, waves and current
  • Initiator of computer simulation codes of TERMSIM and DYNFLOAT and the new OCIMF 1995 edition.
  • MARIN representative for the DeepStar vessel & risers committee in Houston from 1998 up to 2006.
  • Since Houston based the management of full scale monitoring of offshore structures in the Gulf of
    Mexico (full instrumentation and analysis of the TLP Marco Polo in 4300 ft water depth)

Papers and lectures:
  • Since 1976 he wrote more than 60 papers and articles mainly related to moored tankers (FPSO) and
    dredgers.
  • 1990-1999: Lecturer Ocean Engineering at the International Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering
    (IHEE) at Delft (30 lecture hours)
  • 1994-present: lecturer MARIN Course “Hydrodynamics of floating offshore structures”:
